Nqubeko Community Radio station has been on air since 2016 but acquired its broadcasting rights in 2014 and has been on air since then. The story behind the formation of Nqubeko Community Radio NPC is a long one that could take pages to go through but to cut the story short, the station Manager Miss Nonhlanhla Ndlovu started her journey on the radio station in 2009 and has strives for its success despite the challenges that have arisen over the years for it to prosper.
We have entered into numerous competitions in these past years and have gained recognition in the media industry. Our Maskandi show has won awards in the Maz Herbal Products Maskandi Awards, KZN Capital Maskandi Awards and participated and nominated in the SATMA Awards. Nqubeko Community Radio NPC has also been nominated in the acclaimed Liberty Radio Awards in 2017 for The Best Community Radio with good Listenership and in 2018 for the Best Community Radio Station Breakfast Show. We have also won the award for Best NGO from the Alfred duma Local Municipality in 2015 and 2016/2017 respectively.
We have grown over the years from broadcasting to a crowd that barely knew our existence to now broadcasting to more than 60 000 people in the Uthukela District to date, and more listeners to be gained during the years.
